HOUSEHOLD GODS.

OIL. 10.5 X 13.5 IN.

AVAILABLE FOR SALE.

Nearly every Roman home had a shrine called a lararium, in which dwelt the figures of the Lares, the household gods. The Lares were protectors of the family, benevolent witnesses of births, deaths, and marriages. Many of these little shrines can still be found in the ruins of Roman homes.

This painting was created for the monthly challenge provided by Howard Lyon to his patrons (of whom I am one) on Patreon. The original reference photo of the model was taken by him.
